Missing & Murdered: Finding Cleo – one for Serial lovers

A Serial-style investigative podcast with a powerful story. It is both captivating and important storytelling told from a Canadian reporter.

The reporter, Connie Walker, investigates what happened to a Cree girl who was taken from her family in the 1960s. The show recently won an award for best serialized story at the Third Coast International Audio Festival in Chicago.

The people interviewed on the show are colourful. There is a lot of raw emotion throughout the podcast.

Walker mentions she got into journalism to help Canada’s problem of missing and murdered Indigenous women. Here, she does a great job educating people through a fascinating story, and reveals facts for Cleo’s family that could never have been found without this podcast.

Possible turnoff:

Sensitive content. The show investigates how an Indigenous child was ripped away from her family, raped and killed. It doesn’t get too specific, but the topic can be triggering.
